2025 marked the first staging of WET, a new concept on the Jamaican soca scene but familiar to many who have seen or attended Soaka and other similar festivals in Trinidad.
The organizers found a suitable and safe venue near the kingston waterfront that can hold thousands of patrons and provide secure parking.
The event venue was spacious and the footing secure without mud or other hazards allowing easy movement between the numerous coolers..
There was copious water and paint…..just as expected.
I had a surprisingly great time at this event. The crowd was very mixed and varied with representatives from all age groups and everyone was there to have a good time. The paint and water makes sure that no one is there to just pose up.
I think this is a great look for carnival in Jamaica, and WET for the upcoming carnival season has already been announced.
