The end of an era.
Several weeks ago I heard of the impending end of an era for carnival in Jamaica. Our “mas camp”, a staple of our carnival season and a central location for many large fetes, was going to be taken down and replaced by a hotel.
A local developer bought the property in 2006 and its end has lurked in the background for years…the time has finally come.
Thankfully, Bacchanal Jamaica has done its homework and plans are well underway for a supposedly better new location. The details are all secret and hopefully we will have a big and pleasant surprise come January when Jamaica’s carnival season gets into gear.
This morning I passed by mas camp and saw this sight….very, very sad for us Jamaican carnival addicts.
We can only hope the future holds something better.
