Heroes weekend 2022 (updated September 13th)

After 2 long years the heroes weekend party scene is back!

Heroes weekend is the weekend AFTER Miami carnival and so far we have 4 announced events.

The first is on the Friday, October 14th

BADDISH:

Billed as a soca and dancehall festival, this event promises to be a diverse mix of both genres.

Promoted by the team that be puts on the popular “SOCA FOREVER” series and big players in the dancehall world look out for a carnival like vibe spanning both genres.

It will be held in Kingston from 8pm to 2am.

FRENCHMEN

Frenchmen has announced they will be having 3 events spanning Saturday October 15th to Sunday October 16th.

This year the line up looks like RISE UP beach breakfast party on the Saturday morning, Nightcap on Saturday night and the main event, Foreplay, on Sunday afternoon.

As always come dressed to impress and expect the best from the Frenchmen crew. The music is always a top notch mix of all genres with a little soca bias.

HOUSE OF MEDELLIN

This event on Monday October 17th is also new to the Heroes weekend calendar by the promoters of OSA Saturdays and Republic Beach. The info I have so far is that it’s an all white, food inclusive event (pay bar) from 12-6pm for a relatively affordable price (40 usd).

ALLURE

This is another Heroes weekend fete that has been around for a few years. It’s a food inclusive premium beach chic vibe (buy drinks). Unlike Frenchmen it’s more of a dancehall vibe with other genres mixed in. Held on an enclosed private beach it delivers what it promises.

EAST OCHI

New to the heroes weekend scene is the popular dancehall series from Kingston called EAST.

I have never attended and can’t say much other than it’s popular and growing and I’m sure there must be good reason. Let’s see what they bring for heroes weekend.

I’m certain more fetes will drop for the weekend. As I get the info, I will update this post.

FLIGHTS

Ocho Rios lies smack dab in between Jamaica’s two international airports, so if you are flying in look at flights to both airports to get the best deal.

TRANSPORT

This can be a little pricey. Taking an official juta taxi may cost a little more but is a safe and easy way to travel between cities.

Another safe way to travel is via our local version of greyhound buses, the knutsford express. Once you can find your way to and from their terminals via taxi they are a super affordable, comfortable and safe way to travel.

ACCOMODATIONS

Being a resort town, there are no shortage of hotel beds in ochi Rios. Despite this I suspect local demand will be high this year and if you want a nice place to stay, book early.

hotels range from all inclusive mega resorts like Riu to smaller, expensive and exquisite boutique hotels like Hermosa cove. Airbnb’s also abound in ocho Rios and are a cheap and convenient way to take advantage of the weekend.

ATTRACTIONS

Apart from the party scene, it’s also good to take in some of the local attractions and restaurants.

These include attractions like Mystic Mountain and Dolphin Cove and restaurants like Evita’s.

See you this Heroes weekend.
