Get your carnival fitness preparation in gear. Become an early bird
We have 20 or so weeks to go not until Trinidad carnival 2013. Its not that far away! As such it’s really time to kick your workout up a notch to make sure you bring your A game to the big show.
I am NOT an early bird by any means but early morning workouts cannot be beaten. Why, you ask?
- There is less chance of you getting sidetracked by things that pop up during the day and no matter how rough your day is your workout would have already been done.
- You burn fat more effectively working out before your first full meal.
- Once you are in the groove of morning work outs studies have shown that you are less likely to break the habit than newbies who work out in the evening.
Getting into the habit of waking up for your workouts is no easy feat however. I can’t tell you how many times I have woken up and had a protracted debate with myself as to why I MUST stay in bed. Of how I would make it up later. Sometimes no debate was needed at all.
Let me tell you the secret!
Wake up at the same time every single day.
When you wake up at the same time daily you will soon find yourself waking up even before your alarm. By day 30 you will be fully accustomed to the new time.
Set your alarm and put it out of reach.
Having your alarm in easy reach and easily snoozable will make things harder. Put the alarm across the room. Buy one of those clocks from hell with little tiny unlit buttons that takes 2 minutes to figure out to turn off.
When u wake up….wake up.
Once you are awake, make sure you stay awake. Get out of your warm, comfortable bed…tearing yourself out of your significant others arms and get out of the room. Turn on lights! Get dressed and get out of the house!
Go to bed when you are sleepy and get Quality sleep.
Getting good, uninterrupted sleep is invaluable.
Other tips:
Its best to wake up about 20-30 minutes before you lift weights to allow time for your spinal discs to dehydrate and minimize the risk of disc injury.
Its also best to get a little morsel to eat before the workout to make sure you have some carbs in your blood to assist your efforts. Save the larger meal for IMMEDIATELY after the workout. If you don’t eat a proper meal after the workout you will lose muscle and less muscle means more jiggle no matter how much fat you lose!
