Spandex Quest..part 1

So, many of you may know about my desire to play in something a bit different than a pair of board shorts.  I’m looking to maximize the exposure of all the hard work done in the year for carnival while setting myself apart from the board short wearing hoards and still keeping true to theme for the band (and my heterosexuality).  Let me start by saying that no blubber or flab will be let loose on the masses.  Me and my crew make sure we are in tip top shape and I would advise all men planning to deviate from the board shorts status quo to ensure the same.

I, fortunately, have made contact with a costume designer. He has agreed to advise and guide me to ensure that I’m spectacular rather than a spectacle!

MONDAY WEAR

So I have decided to start with my monday wear.  I’m going to wear spandex both days.

There are several options when it comes to length. When I think back, I have seen several men in tribe wearing spandex.  From my memory I think that it’s rather difficult to look “manly” in batty riders, so I will wear long cycle shorts.

After googling for this product I have been mentally scarred by site after site offering soft core gay porn pics masquerading as product photos.  I thankfully found out that amazon sells spandex…without the porn!  Im also sure that most places have local options…even buying the fabric and having the shorts made would be a cheaper option.

There are different lengths…I will stick with the longer shorts which is an 8 or 5 inch length from crotch to end.

There are infinite colours…Black is my first choice but I’m also looking at other interesting options such as camoflage.

The next step is to think of a “blocker” for monday wear.

Now, I’m proud of what I got, but that doesn’t mean everyone has got to see it. I have no idea how to do this part.  I was told that just stitching a cloth over the crotch area looks tacky so I’m going to ask for help from the experts and will tell you the options for that later.

Any advice?  Post a message and let me know!

This is a serious monkey wrench in my plans.  I always thought the glitter, wings, makeup and boots worn by gay men made them easily indentifiable and distinguishable from straight men.  This is like saying any man wearing pink is gay. All the same,  mi nuh want nuh gay man tek set pan mi. I will find a way to look better than the masses in board shorts while NOT looking gay. Man went to the moon in the 60s. I muss can figure out a way!Sent from my iPhone 4

  • I’m a Trinidadian woman , the spandex pants is a “NO NO!” It is generally worn by gay men in the band …. they are mostly covered in glitter , body paint and airbrush …. They have feathered back packs and are mostly in individual costumes…. Now don’t be confused by the man in Peter Elias costume in spandex in tribe. Now no matter how hot your body is …. spandex will give u one response from women GAY

  • That will do for most of Tuesday but the problem is if it falls to pieces before the day is done. I’m positive it won’t last Monday plus Tuesday so I also need an alternative for Monday.

Most bands have the waist bands in their male costumes that do a little cover thing…u can just use that

Yep…if you dont have the goods dont even think about the spandex. But don’t worry about the body…that will be chiseled like a greek god by next year!

  • boyyyyy try pasarela on frederick street to get either a very sexy jockey shorts or for a tights…..but you gotta be ripped. I notice peter elias’ costumes are getting more naked and only a acertian physique can look good in it….hmmmm

  • btw i think the shorter tights would be better, show off the quads and hams

  • add a flap or loin cloth in the to cover the family jewelshttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=115711518517335&set=o.2454846660&type=…
