Lehwego fete recommendation list for 2012
This year just seems to be getting better and better in terms of carnival preparation.
-Firstly, my gym prep is going just great (if I must say so myself).
-Thecarnivalconnection has set me up with a good place to stay at a reasonable price and has made my ticket and costume acquisition a breeze.
-The music has started early and it sounds like it will be a good year.
It may just be all in my head but 2012 feels like the perfect storm in terms of carnival, which is good in case the world ends like the mayan calendar says.
So without further adieu here is my list. These are the Fetes that I have chosen to spend my hard earned money on. They may not be the be best for you…but they are the best for me! I am looking for the optimal balance of elegance, class, beauty and head-top dutty wine (dont-look-back!) all for a reasonable price.
Wednesday:
For years me and my crew have (in my humble opinion) WASTED money on Bacchanal Wednesday. NO MORE! Caesars army has come to our rescue and this year will host MAI-TAI on carnival Wednesday. Forward march!
Thursday:
BEACH HOUSE. This one is a no brainer. A new venue just makes it more exciting. New is always better:)
Friday:
After beach house I will not goto tribe ignite or anywhere else but my bed. Friday morning and afternoon I will sleep in late and eat properly as the wheat/chaff separation process starts on friday night.
We will start by jumping on Caesars army Party bus, assuming that they will once again have it, and head to BLUE RANGE COOLER FETE. After that fete is done we will jump back on the bus and head to whatever secret location the army has arranged for A.M. BUSH alternative J’ouvert.
This will take us to around mid day Saturday afternooon.
Saturday:
We rush home and quickly sleep as much as we can. Early in the evening we rise, tidy and hit the road for SCORCH. This will be my first time at this fete but I have heard stories of women in wild, reckless, half naked abandon in that fete…To the storyteller, don’t worry, I wont call your name (Thecarnivalconnection). Needless to say the plan is that when I finish partying at scorch the tribesmen in the mountain jungles of trinidad will sing songs of my exploits.
Sunday:
After scorch…we either sleep if, we have the time, or drive directly to SUNNY SIDE UP breakfast fete.
This has been a staple of ours for years, partly because we could never get enough Vale tickete at first, but now we don’t mind. It has annually been one of our best fetes for carnival.
At this point we go home and eat and rest.
We will be trying something new this year. Skipping monday morning j’ouvert. I worked too hard to goto monday mas all tired and hung over. Caesars army jouvert is sooooooo much better than monday j’ouvert I personally dont think its worth doing both. Monday morning will see me bright and bushy tailed ready for the road.
This is only my opinion as to what is worth going, but I hope to see you in all those fetes. If you see a half naked guy feting with a camcorder come over and say Hi to LEHWEGO!!!!!

After several years of sitting in traffic all Monday morning and barely catching lunch it’s time for a change for me. Mon Jouvert tends to be just so-so for me. Ambush makes up for it fully!
I’ve been thinking hard about the whole Breakfast Party/J’ouvert/Monday Mas trilogy. It’s in the plans so far, I just hope I’m able to hang. I don’t mind my head being a little unclear for Monday Mas because it’s basically a lime session to me. However, I will NOT stick come Carnival Tuesday morning!
great post!! :)SCORCH is definitely another no-brainer. I think naked reckless abandonment is a staple as in SCORCH miami there was definitely a bra crew in the pool 🙂 … I wouldn’t say if i was one of them :p
