How a man Packs for Carnival!
Today I saw Saucy’s extensive and definitive list on the things you need to pack for carnival.
Truth be told I had planned to do something similar weeks ago but laziness got hold of me and I posted a one line post with a photo of my packed suitcase.
After reading saucy’s list I offer you a man’s version of what you need to pack for carnival:
Documentation:
Sort out everything for your costume and tickets from before!
Passport to allow you entry to Trinidad and your drivers license to drive to the fetes…ALL other documentation is optional and you can work out any situation that arises!
On the plane:
NOTHING. Get some sleep….You have a busy fete schedule that allows for no more sleep till ash wednesday!
Sun protection:
One large tin of coppertone sport sunblock spray…SPF 50. More SPF will give you a rash and less will be ineffective. This give sun protection as well as provides you with that shiny look to accentuate any muscles present for the road.
Important places to spray which are often forgotten–Head top, Ear tips
Grooming:
Hair brush, deodorant, electric razor, toothbrush, toothpaste and listerine. Argument done.
Medication:
Immodium AD. Real men can muscle up and tolerate all other ailments but diarrhea will humble even the mightiest man!
For the costume:
A $500USD pair of board shorts better not need ANYTHING!
Body/Hair care:
The brush is already packed right? Apart from the hair on your head and face all other hair above the thighs should be long gone before you hit the plane. The electric razor you packed previously will be useful for any stubborn or quick growing follicles in Trinidad.
Electronics:
You will need a cheap phone and a durable, relatively small camera as essentials. Other items to communicate with loved ones back home are good as well (iPad etc) . Like Saucy said…don’t forget the power cords.
Underwear:
Deserves its own category. It’s completely different for men than women….click HERE.
Dont forget:
Insect repellant. Trinidad has endemic Yellow and Dengue fever, both transmitted by mosquito bites. You dont want to catch these, they may ruin your carnival (and life).
AND IN CASE OF EMERGENCY:
Money and a bank card to get more when it runs out comes in handy.
This list should leave lots of space in the suitcase for the condoms and some clothes:)

LMAO I love it! Women would do well to try and keep it simple like the men…I for one am determined to have no more than ONE checked luggage and ONE item that fits under the seat of the plane, cause they not going to kill me with baggage fees! It will take some magic but Eloquence, Inc. can do anything she sets her mind to lol. And it will have room for the costume to return to the states!
